About the Patagonia Photo Expedition
This was a 10 day expedition
In April of 2019 I joined a photo expedition to Patagonia. Our guides were Daniel Kordan and Iurie Belegurshi who are both amazing, world renown photographers. I had traveled with Daniel and Iurie on several other expeditions and it's always been an amazing experience with each trip resulting in significant growth in my skill level. The weather was challenging and we only got into really nice light one morning but it was still a gorgeous trip with unforgetable scenes. An amazing experience I will never forget.
Punta Arenas
This was our arrival and departure location.
Torres Del Paine National Park
We spent nearly a week in this location shooting all around the area. Truly unbelievable scenery.
From Wikipedia
Erosion processes have shaped the present-day topography, and glacial erosion is mainly responsible for the sculpturing of the massif in the last tens of thousands of years.
Guanaco
We had several opportunities to photograph Guanaco in the area.
From Wikipedia:
The guanaco (/ɡwɑːˈnɑːkoʊ/;[3] Lama guanicoe) is a camelid native to South America, closely related to the llama. Guanacos are one of two wild South American camelids, the other being the vicuña, which lives at higher elevations.
Perito Moreno Glacier
We had the amazing opportunity to shoot the great Moreno glacier.
From Wikipedia:
Due to its size and accessibility, Perito Moreno is one of the major tourist attractions in southern Patagonia and the rupture of this glacier is considered one of the most impressive natural spectacles in the world.
Fitz Roy
We drove into Argentina and had several opportunities to shoot Fitz Roy. We were able to enjoy seeing the peaks glow orange in the rising sun.
Torres Del Paine National Park
The surrounding landscape was vastly different than the towering monolith. Both had their own beauty.
...behind the scenes
Some snapshots while on the expedition. Sometimes it's fun to see the behind the scenes images.
My traditional selfie with Iurie and Daniel.
So many guanacos!
The line of photographers
Waiting on light. Often the story of my photographic life!
Shooting Fitz Roy.
The mountains were frequently shy this trip but they showed their glory from time to time.
The. Wind. OMG. The wind I experienced here may be unparalleled in my experience. They gave us wind training. It wasn't bad in this shot because I was standing.
Shooting "The Stick". I think we all got shots of that stick with the mountains in the BG.
Getting on the boat to see the glacier.
